History of The Grass Guys

Hello! I'm Matt Hitchcock, the proud owner and operator of The Grass Guys CLC, LLC. When I was 15, I considered becoming a bagger at a local grocery store. My Dad, who ran his own dog grooming business, had a different idea. He encouraged me to start a lawn care business instead; we sat down that night, and The Grass Guys CLC was born!

Founded in the spring of 2000, The Grass Guys CLC is a fully insured, locally owned, and operated lawn care company. My love for the outdoors and connecting with people drives me to offer top-notch, personalized lawn care services. The equipment I prefer to use for all of my properties is Walkers. Walker is proudly manufactured in Fort Collins, CO. In 2007, I started using Walkers because I believed Walkers would be the perfect fit for my high standards at The Grass Guys. Unlike other zero turns with Walkers, I can choose the deck style (Collection, Mulch, or Side-Discharge), and the deck size can range from 52" up to 74" just by changing out the deck. This allows me to have what your property needs to get the manicured cut; it deserves with every service.

The 52" R-deck is the largest collection deck in the Walker lineup. It has a beautifully even cut across expansive areas and outstanding collection results. Pairing this deck with the GHS system delivers an unmatched level of quality. The GHS system features a powerful blower that effectively vacuums grass clippings, ensuring a clean and pristine finish every time.

The mulch deck is a gear-driven, two-blade deck with a serrated wing-style blade with a recirculating hub, providing consistent cutting performance with aggressive mulch action. During my mowing season, towards the end of July, I like to switch from collection decks to mulch decks. Instead of removing the clippings from the soil, they are cut into fine pieces that fall easily to the soil surface. There, they can be rapidly broken down by soil microorganisms, which release nutrients from the mulched clippings back into the soil.

Side Discharge decks have a three-blade gear-driven design that allows them to achieve superior cut quality on either finished turf or rough terrain. In addition, I use the Power-Chute system to block the chute in spaces around vehicles, AC units, and high-traffic areas to keep grass clippings at a minimum.
